Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly received by our safari representative who will brief you about your 10-day Rwanda adventure. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali for check-in and relaxation. Depending on your arrival time, you can take a short Kigali city walk or visit nearby markets.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, embark on a Kigali city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, and local art galleries to learn about Rwanda’s history and resilience. After lunch, proceed to Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda. The drive takes about 2–3 hours through scenic landscapes and rural communities.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Start your day early with a morning game drive across Akagera’s open plains. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, lions, leopards, antelopes, and hippos. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species, including the African fish eagle.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. The journey passes through beautiful rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural villages. You will have a stopover in Butare (Huye) to visit the Ethnographic Museum, which provides insight into Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage. Continue to Nyungwe for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee tracking adventure. The walk through the forest is an incredible experience as you listen to the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. Once you find the chimpanzees, enjoy an hour watching them play and interact.
In the afternoon, take a thrilling canopy walk—a 160-meter-long suspended bridge above the forest, offering panoramic views of the treetops and wildlife.

Day 6: Nature Walk and Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, enjoy a guided nature walk in Nyungwe Forest to explore its rich flora and fauna, including monkeys, orchids, and colorful butterflies. Later, drive to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes, located along the Rwanda–Congo border. Upon arrival, relax at your lakeside resort and enjoy the beautiful sunset views.

Day 7: Relaxation and Boat Ride on Lake Kivu
Spend the day relaxing by the lake shores or exploring Lake Kivu on a boat cruise. Visit nearby islands, interact with local fishermen, and enjoy bird watching. You may also visit coffee plantations and learn about coffee production in the region. In the evening, relax at your lodge with stunning lake views.

Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, drive north to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The drive offers spectacular views of Rwanda’s hilly terrain, terraced farmlands, and the Virunga volcanoes. Arrive at your lodge in Musanze for dinner and relaxation as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today marks the highlight of your safari — gorilla trekking! After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and group allocation. Trek through the forest in search of a gorilla family, guided by experienced rangers. Once found, spend an unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After trekking, return to the lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, you may visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan traditions and enjoy local music and dance performances.

Day 10: Transfer to Kigali and Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may visit a few craft markets for souvenirs before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. This marks the end of your memorable 10 Days Rwanda Safari.
