Afterwards enjoy sometime at the beautiful lake Bunyonyi before heading to Entebbe.
Following breakfast, your knowledgeable safari guide will rendezvous with you as you embark on a road journey toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, we'll pause at the equator for a memorable photo opportunity, capturing the moment at this significant geographical landmark. Continuing our adventure, we'll make a stop at Mbarara town, where a delightful lunch awaits.
Spanning 1,978 square kilometers, Queen Elizabeth National Park graces both the northern and southern hemispheres, situated in the picturesque Southwestern region of Uganda. This diverse park showcases an expansive array of landscapes, ranging from expansive open savannahs and lush rainforests to dense papyrus swamps and serene crater lakes. Among its striking features is the magnificent Lake George, adding to the park's allure and diversity of habitats.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive in the Ishasha sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions and diverse wildlife. Keep a keen eye out for sightings of these unique lions, along with Uganda Kobs, Topi, and an array of other animals that may cross your path. Enjoy a picturesque picnic lunch along the serene shores of the Ishasha River, offering a breathtaking view of numerous hippos basking in the sun outside the water. Later in the afternoon, depart the park around 3:00 pm and embark on a road journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, nestled in the scenic Southwestern region of Uganda.
Encompassing 331 square kilometers of dense jungle, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts a diverse landscape of montane and lowland forests accessible solely by foot. This pristine habitat is home to 120 species of mammals, with the iconic mountain gorilla being the most revered. Trek along hiking trails that unveil a rich array of birdlife and primates, providing opportunities to encounter an incredible variety of wildlife in their natural habitat.
You will have an early morning breakfast then transfer to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you between 1-4 hours. The steepy forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the gorillas once they are sighted. Afterwards transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, driving through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as “Switzerland of Africa” because of its unique cool weather despite being near the equator. In the evening go for optional boat ride on the lake to discover the scattered islands or relax at the lodge. Later return to the lodge and rest.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the lodge terrace, soaking in the stunning vistas of the lake's picturesque islands and the refreshing breeze from the surrounding hills. As you prepare for the return journey to Kampala, anticipate a stopover in Mbarara town for a delightful lunch and a taste of homemade organic coffee. Don't miss the chance to capture memorable photos and pick up souvenirs at the iconic Uganda Equator.
Continuing the journey, relish the scenic drive back to Kampala, expecting to arrive in the late afternoon or evening. Your drop-off point can be personalized to your preference, whether it's your hotel, residence, or the airport, concluding your unforgettable expedition.
